I was trying to study for a Law exam a couple of weeks ago, and I couldn’t get over the fact that in the notes he gave us my lecturer had used “he” as the default gender most of the time (instead of “she” or “s/he”). That frustated me and made actually learning anything difficult because my thought process would stumble whenever I read “he” standing in as the ‘gener neutral’ pronoun.
